Candidate
Adelita Grijalva
US House
Arizona
— 7th District Democrat
Open Seat2025
Supervisor Adelita Grijalva is no stranger to making history and knows what it takes to stand up for her community. As a school board member for two decades and the first Latina elected to the Pima County Board of Supervisors—where she was also the first Latina and only the second woman to serve as chair—Grijalva has consistently put the needs of her constituents first and fought to make life better for children and families. Now, she’s running to continue the progressive legacy of her late father, Congressman Raúl Grijalva, and build a better future for every Arizonan by working across the aisle to pass lifesaving solutions on a host of important issues—including gun safety.
Throughout her career, Grijalva has made addressing America’s gun violence epidemic and bolstering public safety a top priority. In partnership with local and state leaders from across Southern Arizona, she’s worked to educate community members and gun owners alike about the need for responsibility when it comes to buying and owning firearms. Grijalva has held gun safety–focused town halls with youth from the Sunnyside Unified and Tucson Unified school districts, as well as set up tables with pamphlets, information about gun safety classes, and free gun locks at prominent gun shows hosted at the Pima County Fairgrounds in an effort to keep guns out of the hands of children. On the Board of Supervisors, she also sponsored strong measures to challenge Arizona’s state law that prohibits local governments from enacting their own firearms regulations and to require gun owners to report the theft or loss of a firearm.
With so much on the line in Washington DC, it’s imperative we elect leaders who are ready to fight back against the Trump administration’s dangerous rhetoric and actions on guns—leaders like Grijalva. If elected, she would be the first Latina to ever represent Arizona in Congress, and we know she’ll carry the voices of so many with her into the halls of power. Just as her father did before her, we’re certain that Adelita Grijalva will never give up the fight to protect the progress we’ve made on gun safety, save lives from senseless violence, and help shape a safer future for the next generation.
